Title: "The girl on the train"
Author: Paula Hawkins
Published: 2015
Genre: Psychological Thriller Novel
Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens.
She's even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy.
And then she sees something shocking, and in one moment everything changes.
Now Rachel has a chance to become a part of their lives she's only watched from afar.
Now they'll see: she's much more than just the girl on the train... You don't know her. But she knows you.
The book that was the "star" in various newspapers and magazines, may not be as good as everyone imagined.
Everyone with whom I talked about this book before reading it, gave me very good reviews about it, so good were the reviews that I went to a bookshop the same day, I bought it and I started to read it right after. The truth is that I was a bit disappointed.
It is easy and comfortable to read, the story is quite interesting but the author hasn't made me reach it. She hasn't made myself fall in love with the main characters, not even with the secondary ones. When I finished, I wasn't waiting for the next book. I think Paula Hawkins, the author, could have transmitted much more to the readers with this book and I think this book is a little bit over valued.
If you want a quick and easy going reading this is the right book, it is true it isn't one of my favourites but I admit that the story behind it is quite interesting and I didn't expect the end of it at all. However, the author could have written this novel in a better way.
"But my better angels lost again, defeated by drink, by the person I am when I drink"
