Title: "The Contract"
Author: Melanie Moreland
Published: 2016
Genre: Detective Fiction

A tyrant by day, a playboy by night. That is the reputation that precedes Richard VanRyan. He lives life the way he wants, no concern for the opinion of others. He cares for no one, is completely unrepentant, and he has no desire to change his ways.

Katharine Elliott works under Richard as his PA. She despises him and his questionable ethics, but endures all the garbage he sends her way, because she needs the job. Her end goal is far more important than the daily abuse and demands she tolerates from her nasty tyrant of a boss.

Until the day, he asks her for something she never expected. A new role with a personal contract — fiancée instead of PA.

What happens when two people who loathe each other, have to live together and act as though they are madly in love?

Sparks.

That’s what happens.

Can the power of love really change a person?

Will they survive the contract?

What do you do when the one person you hate the most becomes the one person you can’t live without?

I do not usually feel very attracted to this type of novel, I always feel that I have read the story many times. On the other hand, I liked this story very much, I had never read this type of book where between a bet between a relationship and the truth is that "The Contract" has enchanted me.

Although many people may not like this book or it seems very repetitive, it hooked me a lot, the pages seemed to fly alone and that is the most important for me when it comes to opining about a book.

Richard Vanryan, one of the main characters, is a man who enjoys his freedom, does what he wants and no matter what others think about him. At the beginning of the story I could not stand him, he seemed to me a real tyrant, I never had a respectable attitude towards anyone, much less for his assistant who deals with especially a lot of coldness and autocracy in order to try to get rid of her since his reserved and shameful character it upset him. He has been working for the company "Anderson Inc." and wants to achieve with all his forces an ascent and that they propose to be one of the partners of the company. But when they do not they decide to go to the rival company, "Graham Gravin". The only drawback is that the company is very close family and all partners have a requirement, having a family. Something that will put his future in his "nightmare", effectively, his secretary, Miss Eliott.

Katherine Elliott, is my favourite character without any hesitation, in the eyes of all may appear to be bland and go unnoticed but in reality is a hardworking and strong woman who day and day supports her hateful boss in order to keep her job. He hates his boss, Mr. Vanryan, for how he treats her, instead of secretarial she seems to be his slave, and if she did not risk losing his job and opened it, he let go of the other than another word that was not very pretty. You can not lose your job as you have to keep a lucky Penny the only family you have ever met. One day Richard, his boss, will surprise her with a job offer that will leave her with her mouth open.

Melanie Moreland is was unknown author until the label Terciopelo de Roca Editorial has brought it to Spain. He writes in a simple way but he has written an agile novel that has fallen in love with me. I never thought I would like it so much and the best thing is that it made me feel many emotions to the point of crying.

If you like love novels fast to read, this is the ideal novel. How much the characters change throughout the reading, the affection and the passion that is between them is incredible and I never tire of reading something more about this perfect pair.

"When you get older, Richard, you realize life is made up of moments. All sorts of them. Sad ones, good ones, and great ones. They make up the tapestry that is your life. Hold on to all of them—especially the great ones. They make the others easy to take."
